Local 2nd on the world stage

Kelowna’s Lily Anderson helped Team Canada finish fourth at the inaugural International Water Ski and Wakeboard Federation (IWWF) World Wakesurfing Championships in Hong Kong.

Anderson herself earned a second-place finish in the Open Women’s Surf.

The competition, which marked wakesurfing’s debut at the IWWF World Championships, also served as a qualifier for the 2025 World Games in China.

In the overall team rankings, Canada placed 4th, behind the United States (1st), Hong Kong (2nd) and Ukraine (3rd).

“Our team demonstrated exceptional skills, propelling Canada to fourth place. This provides a solid foundation heading into the 2025 World Games in China,” team captain Denver Rush said in a press release.
