Toby’s House Crisis Nursery has a new director and will expand its services

Toby’s House Crisis Nursery in Great Falls has named Mysten Price as its new director and plans to expand its services by providing free shelter and emergency care to children in the community.

Toby’s House Crisis Nursery appoints new director

Toby’s House was established in honor of October “Toby” Perez, a two-year-old girl who died at the hands of her mother’s boyfriend in Great Falls in 2011. The crisis daycare provides short-term care for children brought voluntarily by a parent or legal guardian.

The mission of Toby’s House is to prevent child abuse and neglect by providing emergency child care services that are accessible for a number of reasons – for example, if the child’s caregiver is resolving personal issues and not being able to care for the child as she would like, emergency custody issues, medical emergencies, or for mental health or sobriety support.

Price says the best part about being at Toby’s House is seeing the families grow.

She says: “When they first walk through the door, it’s usually in a crisis, I would say usually. Being able to walk with them through that process, give them the support they need, give their babies a safe place while they deal with what they need to deal with. The best part is being able to see when the crisis has sort of eased and being able to see the parents breathing again.”

Price previously worked at Family Reunification Solutions and has experience with a wide variety of services to support families.

Plans for the future of Toby’s House include expanding their services, such as providing weekend childcare starting in the new year.

Price explained: “Toby’s House is wonderful and has a wonderful base for childcare, and I’m really excited to develop this social work and other community outreach activities and follow up with our families and see how we can support them. outside of Toby’s home and provide them with the comprehensive services they need. »

Toby’s House also provides care to children waiting for a place at other area daycares, as well as food, clothing, diapers and other items to families, free of charge and without income requirements.

As a non-profit organization, Toby’s House relies on donations and grants from the community and always accepts donations of goods to support families in need or volunteers.
