New Halifax Store Allows Customers to Create Personalized Fragrances

A new store in the Maritimes has taken fragrance creation to a new level by allowing customers to get involved in the creative process.

Perfume workshop 7 Virtues recently opened in downtown Halifax and allows customers to create their own perfumes.

The process begins when customers choose from a variety of allergy- and toxin-free fragrances.

“You can experience them personally, you test them, you can test them on skin, on clothes, and as you go up, you can name your perfume whatever you want,” said the store manager . Ibrahim Bojal.

“Some of the varieties we offer range from eight different scent types, you could say, a mix of unisex, masculine and feminine profiles.”

Throughout the hour-long session, clients can try different scent blends and find the one that suits them best. A “perfume alchemist” also helps find the perfect balance of scents while creating something unique.

Although there are only eight scents, different blends of scents can give rise to a completely new smell.

“It turns out different every time, everyone uses different ratios even though we only have eight scents to create their own custom blend,” said fragrance alchemist Izzie Regan.

Once they find their scent, customers create a name and their own personalized graphics on the label.

Regan says the experience allows people to unleash their creativity and take something home with them.

“It’s really nice to have all these different people with different tastes and be able to create new flavors with them,” Regan said.

“It’s a great creative outlet for both the client and the staff here.”
