Wellington rider suffers head trauma after fall

A Wellington rider is recovering in hospital after suffering a head injury while training last Wednesday.

Family members are seeking answers to the fate of Gregory Prince Jr., 55, who unexpectedly fell from a horse.

His partner, Kyla Makhloghi, says Prince is currently at St. Mary’s Hospital due to a brain hemorrhage.

Makhloghi says Prince’s assistant noticed his horse running toward the stable with sand on its side. The aide then found Prince on the ground, and he was later airlifted to St. Mary’s Hospital in West Palm Beach.

“There is not a single person who knows him, who has met him, who does not think much of him,” said Kyla Makhloghi.

“I didn’t think in my wildest dreams that we would be where we are,” Makhloghi said. “It’s very difficult to say the least.”

As loved ones wait for Prince to regain consciousness, they say the support has been overwhelming.

“There is not a single person who knows him, who has met him, who does not think much of him,” Makhloghi said. “It became so obvious and so critical in its time.”

Family members say Prince was a professional trainer and grew up riding horses.

A GoFundMe was set up by the family to help cover medical costs, and they say Prince has a long road to recovery.
