Drag racing in the UK fans have once again praised season six for its emotional impact: this time, for a makeover challenge involving the first six members of the family, including the instantly iconic 78-year-old father.

With season six of RuPaul’s Drag Race UNITED KINGDOM somehow, close to its peak, after eight weeks of gag-worthy dramafierce looks, and sensational performanceslast night’s episode (November 14) saw the remaining six divas take part in the popular makeover challenge.

A must-have in most Drag racing Throughout the seasons, the task was always the same: transform a surprise Werk Room guest into a member of your drag family with a “strong drag family resemblance.” Previous editions have welcomed teachers, soldiers and even Queen Team to the fold – but season six saw each queen team up with a member of their own family.

Charra Tea, which finally disappearedremade by her mother, as were Lill and Marmalade, the latter having earned her first RuPeter badge for the challenge. But while Kyran Thrax dueted with his partner and Rileasa Slaves was joined by his sister, The Voice’s father Richard, 78, stole the show and the hearts of viewers around the world.

After strutting down the runway as “La Voix,” Richard brought the assembled queens and jury (including Big brother‘s AJ Odudu) to tears with a passionate speech about the love he had for his queer son.

“I just want to say I was really caught off guard watching all of you, especially the parents,” said Michelle Face after the track.

“Walking with your queer child, head held high and nothing but love… It should be everywhere and it’s not, and see, The Voice, your dad here in heels and a wig and a dress doing that because he loves you and nothing else… that’s power.

In response, Voix La really cranked the emotion up to ten, telling the judges: “I feel powerful. I feel so different, I can’t explain it. But it’s a wonderful feeling.

He continued: “I thought it was a transformation that I felt, that it was a privilege to be gay. All the hard work and effort that people put in in this world is enormous. And I praise everyone.

“I am 78 years old. And I hope I set an example for other parents, who should also love their child, regardless of gender or whatever,” he finished, drawing tears from the jury.

Fans praised the episode for its importance in today’s climate, where there are many fears for LGBTQ+ rights.

“So many people needed to hear this,” wrote one of them, hailing this “truly moving” moment.

I don’t think I’ve ever started screaming like that while watching (Drag racing in the UK),” said another. “WHAT a moment, what an unforgettable episode for this franchise. »

“It’s queer art Megami said he was worth protecting,” another viewer joked.

The last five of Drag racing in the UK has been reduced to The Voice, Marmalade, Lill, Rileasa Slaves, and Kyran Thrax, all of whom now have at least one badge. Next week’s challenge will feature the return of Michael Marouli and Ella Vaday to help the queens make a roast.
