Tweed isn’t exclusive to the holidays, but it certainly makes every outfit more cheerful in December. The Royals, in particular, seem to favor this versatile material, with everyone from Princess Kate has Duchess Meghan offering their own versions of the trend. As for Queen Letizia from Spain, she brought a modern twist to the traditional holiday look with a stylish choice of outerwear.

Earlier this week, Letizia attended the Luis Carandell Journalism Awards ceremony, which took place at the Senate Palace in Madrid. For the occasion, she wore a collarless jacket in brown and white tweed, a piece by Carolina Herrera that she had already worn during a visit in January 2024 to the headquarters of the Association for Prevention, Reintegration and the care of prostituted women.

Letizia paired the colorful jacket with practical black pieces, including flowy straight-leg pants and shiny leather boots with a chunky block heel. But the real highlight of the day was her long, collarless dress. cape coatwhich fell over his shoulders and hit just below his knees. She completed the look with a black leather top handle bag and jeweled hoop earrings.

The Queen is a fan of wearing old pieces in her closet. For example, while attending the presentation of the National Radio for All service last October, Letizia showed up in an elegant lilac suit designed by the Spanish brand Bleis Madrid. The ensemble is one of the royal family’s must-have looks, with Letizia having previously worn the suit during outings in June 2024 and September 2021.
