NASA warns of potential ‘catastrophic failure’ if ISS leaks – but Russia won’t do anything about it

THE International Space Station (ISS) is leaking – and major space agencies are divided on what to do next.

The leak is located in a Russian segment of the station known as the PrK module, which connects the Russian service module Zvezda to the main body of the space station. NASA and the Russian space agency Roscosmos has known about the leak since at least 2019but its underlying cause remains a mystery. Since its discovery, cosmonauts have taken various measures to minimize its impact, including closing the segment when not in use. But Roscosmos and NASA now disagree on the severity of the leak.
