Amid the ongoing unrest in Bangladesh following the arrest of ISKCON priest Shri Chinmoy Das, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Thursday expressed her concerns and pointed out that since the case involves a other country, it will stand alongside the central government on this issue.

Addressing the issue in the Legislative Assembly, Banerjee clarified that the matter was a matter for the central government and her state government would respect its decision.

“Bangladesh is a different country. The Indian government will look into the matter. We do not want any religion to be harmed. Since it is another country, the central government must take appropriate measures. We stand with them on this issue,” she said.

The Bengal CM also mentioned that she had spoken with ISKCON representatives regarding the matter.

Meanwhile, TMC MP Abhishek Banerjee on Wednesday termed the incident “unfortunate” and said, “We cannot react to an international issue, but the incident is unfortunate.” »
