President of Congress Mallikarjun Kharge called for unity and discipline within the party during a recent Congressional Working Committee (CWC) meeting.

The meeting was called to analyze the party’s defeats in Haryana and Maharashtra elections.

Kharge stressed that infighting and anti-party remarks were undermining the party’s success, saying: “Unless we fight the elections in a united manner and stop making statements against each other, how can we we defeat our adversaries politically?

Kharge calls for accountability and strategy evolution

Furthermore, Kharge stressed the need for “difficult decisions” to address the party’s responsibilities and shortcomings.

He asked leaders to learn lessons from their defeats elections and formulate plans to counter rival propaganda and disinformation.

The Congress leader also raised questions over the election process, saying electronic voting machines (EVMs) made it “suspicious”.

He urged the Election Commission to ensure free and fair elections in India.

Kharge advocates strengthening the base, addresses economic issues

Kharge said the National Assembly elections should not be fought on national issues and called for strengthening the organizational structure of the party from the grassroots to the national level. All India Congress Committee (AICC).

He said that despite a favorable atmosphere during the elections, it did not translate into victory.

The Congress leader also touched on economic issues, saying unemployment, inflation and economic inequality remain pressing concerns in India.

Kharge stresses need for discipline and change within Congress

He stressed the need for discipline within the party while admitting that changes are needed at all levels to make the Congress stronger in the coming elections.

“So it is important that we strictly follow discipline. We must remain united under all circumstances,” he said during the meeting.
