Always optimisticRoy Keane was left furious with the way Manchester United performed in last night’s clash with Arsenal.

The club legend joined Stick to Football co-stars Gary Neville, Ian Wright and Jamie Carragher for a watch of the match, with the latter sporting a Red Devils shirt in the hope of Arsenal dropping points in the title race.

That would not be the case, however, as two perfectly executed corners saw the Gunners find the back of the net twice in the second half through Jurrien Timber and William Saliba’s back. Apart from a flurry of attacks in the closing stages, Arsenal offered very little open play in the final third.

Nonetheless, they had secured all three points by the time Sam Barrott blew the whistle for full-time, narrowing the gap to Liverpool, who drew 3-3 at Newcastle United, to seven points.

For the second goal of the evening, Ruben Amorim would have been ‘furious’ with Marcus Rashford Because the striker needlessly conceded the corner after failing in his attempt to pass the ball to Martin Odegaard. It was then only a matter of moments before Bukayo’s Saka swinger nestled into the net, and Saliba broke away to celebrate with the Emirates faithful, all but confirming that there was no way to go back for visitors.

Reacting to his show on The Overlap, Keane said of Rashford: “I’ll tell you something, Marcus Rashford got there. His overall play as a footballer is shocking. Look at his face there.

He added: “Have United’s substitutes given anything since their arrival? Nothing. The submarines did nothing. Manchester United don’t deserve anything anyway. They were trash. Do you know what’s going on with United? They deceive you, they deceive you. They are not dynamic.

Fans may dispute such a sentiment, however, given that two of Amorim’s five replacements, Amad Diallo and Leny Yoro, were bright sparks for the time they were on the pitch. The latter, in particular, recorded some pretty impressive stats in what marked his first outing for United.
