DM, US officials discuss Israel’s continued purchase of US weapons

The Director General of the Ministry of Defense, Major-General. (res.) Eyal Zamir met with National Security Council Middle East Coordinator Brett McGurk, US Defense Secretary Chief of Staff Derek Chollet, US State Department Advisor Tom Sullivan , and other senior US officials, the Department of Defense announced on Thursday.

Zamir discussed Israel’s continued acquisition of U.S. weapons and air defense systems to “maintain Israel’s qualitative advantage in the region and support the ongoing war effort and the IDF’s immediate needs.” and the defense establishment,” the statement said.

The Department of Defense has made purchases in the United States worth more than $10 billion so far. The weapons purchased included squadrons of F-35s and F-15s, various types of ammunition, armored vehicles, combat equipment and soldier protective equipment.

Zamir also thanked U.S. officials for the $8.7 billion war aid package approved by Congress in April. This grant is for the IDF’s weapons and air defense systems, including the Iron Dome, David’s Sling and the high-power laser system currently in development.

Additionally, during their meeting, Zamir presented Brett McGurk with a fragment of an Iranian ballistic missile intercepted and shot down by the jointly developed Arrow system, in gratitude for the support provided by the United States to Israel.
