How Washington’s commanders can address a key offseason need now

There is no doubt that Washington Commanders made a lot of big steps towards becoming a respectable franchise before the start of this season.

How we appreciate this Commanders Goodbye to the week and take some time to reflect on the best of them, there’s no doubt that few players have made an impact on the roster like linebacker Bobby Wagner has.

While some wondered how much he had left in the tank as an on-field player, expectations that he would be a key leader on the field Washington the list has never been in doubt. Over his first 13 games in Burgundy, he has delivered more than expected in both areas of the game, and because of that, Bleacher Report believes the team should do what they can to make sure he or back for another in 2025.

“Wagner is 34 and turns 35 in July, but he’s still playing at a high level with 99 total tackles heading into this weekend – 11th in the league – while posting an impressive 83.7 tackle rating.Focus on professional football,” says the launderer’s report. “Linebacker will be an offseason need for the Commanders if they don’t re-sign the 10-time All-Pro, so they might as well take care of it now.”

To be clear, the popular sports site is not recommending Commanders general manager Adam Peters re-sign Wagner this offseason. They say Peters needs to extend him now, before the offseason has a chance to raise questions like “Should Wagner retire?” “, “could another return to the Seattle Seahawks be considered? ”, or any other intrusive thought. this could threaten the synchronicity the team currently experiences.

With four games remaining and north of a 70 percent chance for Washington to make the playoffs, Wagner has clearly been a catalyst for that success. Knowing he’ll be back for another run could help propel this year’s team even further as it follows a future Hall of Famer who not only helps build a future for other players, but also for himself.
