OPP reminds motorists to remain vigilant and stay in control this season

The OPP suggests motorists prepare for any situation by carrying a survival kit in their vehicle.

THUNDER BAY — The North West Region of the Ontario Provincial Police is reminding drivers to slow down, stay alert and stay in control during this time of year.

“Winter driving conditions can be unpredictable, with icy roads, heavy snow and reduced visibility creating challenges for drivers. »

A news release from the Ontario Provincial Police released Saturday morning says snowfall and freezing rain are expected to continue this weekend in northwestern Ontario.

“Slow down and adapt your driving to current road and weather conditions.”

The OPP suggests motorists prepare for any situation by carrying a survival kit in their vehicle. A shovel, blanket, warm clothes, food, jumper cables, flashlight, matches and a candle were suggested items.

“Make sure your mobile phone is charged at all times so you can contact emergency services if something goes wrong. If you are in a life-threatening situation, call 9-1-1.
