Several teams are calling to acquire a disappointed Steven Stamkos in Nashville!

Nashville Predators general manager Barry Trotz has been busy in recent weeks, signing four deals since Nov. 25 to improve his team. Earlier this week, before the NHL roster freeze, Trotz sent defenseman Alexandre Carrier to the Montreal Canadiens in exchange for defenseman Justin Barron.

The general feeling is that Trotz isn’t finished, prompting rival teams to call the Predators general manager about none other than Steven Stamkos. Some experts and fans are wondering if Stammer regrets his decision to join the Preds as a free agent this summer and could seek to be traded from Nashville to a contender.

On July 1, Stamkos, 34, signed a four-year contract worth $8 million per year with the Predators. The signing came after the former Lightning captain scored 40 goals last season with Tampa Bay, but was not part of the plans for the franchise that selected him first overall in 2008.

However, this season in Music City, Stamkos has nine goals and 19 points in 33 games, a far cry from last year’s pace in Florida.
Even if teams are right to investigate and call on GM Trotz to ask him about Stamkos, Marco D’Amico of RG.org revealed how a league source said there was no indication either party had any doubts about the situation.

So while the Predators could consider other moves following the NHL roster freeze, it appears Stamkos won’t be an asset to Nashville.
