‘The Best Christmas Pageant Ever’ starring Judy Greer and ‘Heretic’ starring Hugh Grant both hit theaters this weekend

(WNDU) – Two films are hitting theaters this weekend, “The Best Christmas Pageant Ever” for the whole family and “Heretic” for horror fans.

“The Best Christmas Pageant Ever” is based on Barbara Robinson’s bestselling 1972 book of the same name, which was previously adapted into a stage play, then a television special in 1983, and now a feature film .

This film stars Judy Greer as Grace, Pete Holmes as Bob and features Kynlee Heiman as Gladys and Sebastian Billingsley-Rodriguez as Charlie.

This Christmas story sees the Herdmans initially cause chaos when they join the local church’s pageant, but begin to teach a shocked community the true meaning of Christmas.

A24’s new horror film “Heretic” stars Hugh Grant as Mr. Reed, Sophie Thatcher as Sister Barnes and Chloe East as Sister Paxton.

This horror film sees two young nuns find themselves drawn into a game of cat and mouse, in the house of a strange man.

Again, “The Best Christmas Pageant Ever” is a family-friendly film and is rated PG for its thematic material and brief underage smoking.

Viewer discretion is strongly advised for “Heretic,” as this horror film is rated R for bloody violence.
