‘Lamentable’ Pope Gets 0 in Pakistan Horror Show’s English Player Ratings

England were humiliated after falling in two-and-a-half days in Rawalpindi as Pakistan ran out a winner in this third Test by nine wickets to claim a 2-1 series victory.

The tourists, who had posted a 77-run first innings deficit after a nightmarish second day on the field, were bundled out for just 112 runs in their second innings – the lowest total in the Bazball era.

He left Pakistan 36 to go and they got there in just 19 balls.

This should probably go down as the worst defeat ever under manager Brendon McCullum’s tenure and for England there is a lot of soul-searching to do after losing a series in which they led 1-0 after a draw. first test in Multan who saw them score 823 for seven declared.

Here’s how England’s players fared in the series as a whole.

English player ratings

Zak Crawley 3

139 runs at 27.80

Made 78 in his first innings of the series and not much after that. Bad series but unfortunately not the worst English hitter.

Ben Duckett 8

262 runs at 52.40

England’s most consistent goalscorer through the series, hitting 84 in the first match of the series, but scoring 114 and another half-century on tougher pitches in the last two Tests.

Ollie Pope 0

55 races to 11

Sad. Scores of 0, 29, 22, three and one. Must be put out of his misery and dropped for the upcoming New Zealand tour.

Joe Root 6

352 runs at 70.40

Fine 262 in the first Test which saw him become England’s best player top points scorer. After that, I did 90 runs at 10:50 p.m.

Harry Brook 7

373 runs at 74.60

The series-opening triple hundred was a special moment. But as Root produced soon after, failing to reach 30 in his further four innings.

Ben Stokes2

53 races at 1:25 p.m.; 0 wickets

First test failed. Desperate with the bat. I bowled only 10 overs in the entire series and the captaincy was found wanting in the final Test.

Jamie Smith 6

150 races to 30; 8 sockets, 1 stump removal

His series-clinching 89 was his best innings for England. But other than that, I had a tough time. Remaining shaky during the second test but otherwise fine.

Chris Woakes5

2 wickets @55

Figures for the only Test he played, the first on the batting paradise of Multan, didn’t really reflect how he bowled. He performed well on his first foreign tour for two and a half years.

Brydon Carse 8

9 wickets at 24:33

Outstanding in its first round of testing in the harshest conditions for crimpers. The rhythm, the engine and the heart bode well for the future.

Gus Atkinson7

6 wickets at 27.83

In a series dominated by spin, the Surrey seamer continued his good start to life in Test cricket which began last summer.

Matthew Potts 6

3 wickets at 28:33

He ran valiantly and showed character in his only appearance during the second Test in Multan which was played on a used pitch.

Réhan Ahmed 7

4 wickets at 4:50 p.m.

Positive return for the young leg-spinner in Rawalpindi. England should invest in him so he can become a viable spin option in all conditions.

Jack Leach7

16 wickets at 31:43

A strong campaigner who didn’t let anyone down. An uncertain future but at 33, pick him as your No. 1 rotation option or leave him out.

Shoaib Bashir 4

9 wickets @49.55

He is England’s chosen spinner, but he has missed good areas in the last two Tests. Has a lot to learn.
