Notre Dame fans’ reactions to the first CFP poll of the season

Notre Dame arrives in 10th place in the initial CFP rankings

I rarely find Notre Dame talking points on the Always Irish radio show that the majority of Irish fans agree on. Regardless of the specific issue addressed, there is usually some level of healthy disagreement within the Irish fan base.

Surprisingly, that hasn’t been the case thus far when it comes to Notre Dame’s initial ranking of 10th in the CFP.

It seems Irish fans find this ranking fair. The feeling seems that all things considered, from Independence to Texas A&M to Northern Illinois and the winning streak that followed, 10 is a fair landing spot. I have not responded to any calls from anyone who feels that the Irish have been shortchanged in the rankings. A rare Irish consensus indeed.

Notre-Dame must not lose sight of the immediate task that awaits her

Irish fans naturally indulge in CFP news. Which teams could lose that are ranked ahead of Notre Dame and could help the Irish climb the rankings?

How was Notre Dame able to find its way to a hosting seed? Which matchups would favor the Irish or be most difficult for them? All of these topics are popular topics of discussion in the land of Notre Dame today, but we must not forget the task at hand.

For any of these questions to be answered, Notre Dame must win its remaining four games.

I surely hope that while the media and Notre Dame fans run wild with playoff storylines and questions, the program itself remains focused exclusively on the next game to be played.

Notre Dame fought its way back into the playoffs after a brutal loss in Week 2, it would be a shame to lose focus now and give up on a game that should be winnable. There can be no distractions in November. Just win.
