Calgary Remembrance Day at the Hangar Flight Museum

Calgarians will celebrate Remembrance Day at various ceremonies across the city, including at the Hangar Flight Museum.

Eight different events are planned for November 11 in the city to commemorate the end of hostilities during the First World War as well as the sacrifices of all veterans of the Canadian armed forces.

Every day this month, veterans and supporters gathered at the Field of Crosses on Memorial Drive to honor different sections of Canadian military personnel.

Other ceremonies include:

  • Jubilee Auditorium of Southern Alberta (1415 14th Avenue NW);
  • King’s Own Calgary Regiment (137 Battalion Memorial, North Glenmore Park);
  • Studio Bell National Music Center (300-851 4 St. SE);
  • The Military Museums (4520 Crowchild Tr. SW);
  • Canadian Pacific Memorial (CP Memorial Square, 7550 Ogden Dale Rd. SE); And
  • Calgary Highlanders Remembrance Day Parade (Central Memorial Park from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.).

At the Hangar Flight Museum, ceremonies will take place from 10:30 a.m.

This event will be broadcast live on CTV Calgary and broadcast on television.

To mark Remembrance Day, the Hangar Flight Museum is holding its annual service.

The museum says the in-person service takes place outdoors, regardless of the weather, and reminds attendees to dress for the weather.

Doors open at 9:30 a.m. and seating ends at 10:15 a.m.

Entrance to the museum will be by donation after the ceremony. Donations to the Veterans Association Food Bank are also welcome.
