Calgary Weather: Hot and dry in southern Alberta on Wednesday with some precipitation overnight in central Alberta

Wednesday will be very similar to Tuesday in southern Alberta, with hot and dry conditions expected.

More snow and rain are forecast in the southern interior of British Columbia due to a Pacific low pressure system.

This precipitation triggered winter storm warnings along some higher elevation routes, including Kootenay Pass.

Most of this moisture will remain on the windward (or western) side of the Rockies on Wednesday, and warm, dry air will flow toward Alberta, increasing temperatures.

This low pressure system is expected to track eastward throughout the day Wednesday, and by late evening some of this precipitation is expected to fall across central Alberta, with temperature dictating the form.

Areas closer to the eastern border will likely see rain early, parts of north-central Alberta will have snow, and there is a risk of freezing rain near the capital.

Over the next few days, daytime maximum and minimum temperatures will remain above seasonal temperatures by 3°C and -8°C, but by the end of the weekend a colder air mass will sink in in the Pacific and then head towards Alberta, bringing warmer temperatures. below season and even below zero by Tuesday.
