Arsenal reportedly close to naming replacement for Edu Gaspar

The most controversial and surprising news to come out of the club this season was the departure of Edu as sporting director. He left his role without any hints before suggesting his time at the club would come to an end, but unfortunately Edu left us for a “more important” job.

The move has left us without a permanent successor to the Spaniard with his assistant Jason Ayto currently temporarily tasked with the role until we find a new person for the position. Our search for this person has spanned all of Europe if rumors are to be believed, but according to the latest reports, we might have found our man.

Mercato on foot recently reported that negotiations between the club and Real Sociedad chief Roberto Olabe are at an advanced stage, with the former goalkeeper and manager now looking for the most likely candidate to succeed Edu’s reigns at the club. ‘Emirates. The Spaniard will leave Sociedad after spending eight years at the club.

During this period he has made some very smart signings to help the Basque Country team win their first trophy in over 30 years by winning the Copa Del Rey in 2021. His efforts to identify talent have been one of reasons for this and others. success during his eight-year spell, with some of those signings he made now being established superstars like Martin Ødegaard and Alexander Isak.

His arrival will increase our chances of signing the latter and reuniting these two at the club, due to (according to reports) the excellent relationship still enjoyed between the two men after bringing the player to the club in 2019. The Gunners have been linked even when he was still with Olabe in the Basque Country and now that he is at Newcastle, we have always maintained an interest in him. His potential arrival will mean we have a better chance of finally recruiting the Swedish hitman.

Would he be a great date?
